Nelson Mandela International Day was celebrated on 18 July and people across the country, and around the world, honoured Madiba’s legacy by doing their bit for the less fortunate.

This year, 22seven team members donated clothes, food parcels and personal hygiene care packages to two Cape Town-based organisations helping the underprivileged in the community: the Ravensmead Service Centre for the Aged and U-Turn, a local NGO assisting the homeless.

Ravensmead Service Centre for the Aged

Seniors are very often overlooked when it comes to charity, making the Ravensmead Service Centre for the Aged an important organisation for seniors in the community.

The Centre, which has been around for over 30 years, provides hot breakfasts and lunches every day, as well as a ‘meals on wheels’ initiative for those unable to physically go to the Centre.

If you would like to make a donation to the Ravensmead Service Centre for the Aged, please contact Claude September on +27616794384.

U-Turn equips the homeless in the community with skills and work opportunities to overcome their homelessness.

The U-Turn programme is designed by occupational therapists, with long term results for rehabilitation and reintegration.

Six months after graduating from the programme, more than 80% of participants remain employed and sober.
